About Dr Steven Sam

Dr. Steven Sam is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Brunel University London, researcher, and technology strategist specialising in responsible AI, digital governance, and human-computer interaction. His work focuses on helping organisations design, govern, and implement trustworthy AI and data-driven systems that deliver meaningful social and organisational impact.

His academic journey spans four continents—from Africa to Denmark, Australia, and the United Kingdom. He earned his PhD from the University of Queensland, where his thesis received the prestigious Outstanding Theses Dean’s Award. Before joining Brunel University London in 2019, he spent six years lecturing in ICTs and Digital Media Studies. This international experience has shaped both his research and his commitment to using education and technology as catalysts for opportunity, innovation, and social good.

As an educator and researcher, Dr. Sam explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, ethics, governance, and society. His research examines how emerging technologies can be designed responsibly, ensuring they are transparent, accountable, human-centred, and aligned with ethical and regulatory expectations.

Beyond academia, he is the founder of Cendory Digital, a consultancy dedicated to responsible AI, data governance, and digital transformation. Through Cendory, he works with businesses, universities, and public-sector organisations to develop practical governance frameworks, implement responsible AI strategies, and build organisational capability for the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Dr. Sam is also passionate about making technology accessible beyond the classroom. Through his YouTube channel and educational platforms, he shares practical insights on artificial intelligence, digital innovation, career development, and global opportunities, helping professionals, students, and aspiring technologists build the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven world.
